Basic settings of wordpress website. Website settings
Let’s take a look through the menu of wordpress website and start with some settings things.

As you know that we have here on our website tutorial which will give you a knowledge how to start making a money online. This tutorial names working online is easy and you can start with it by clicking on the previous link. There you can see what you have to do to start making money and before you start with creating website.
By this I think that you have everything in your business plan and you know what you will promote on your website. This is so important if you want to choose right theme and plug ins for your website. In this tutorial we will learn some new things:

1. How to set up wordpress website name.
Firstly we have the instalation of wordpress behind us and now we have some website name chosen in installation guide. This setting can be changed from administration menu where you can find a lot of tools which will help you to modify your website to whatever you want.
First step of setting up your website is website name or as you might know the website title. You can easily use logo on some themes for this purpose but the title tag of the website is still important because your customers or readers will see it written on the panel with website.
The best thing if you want to use a logo of your website is put the alt text with name of your website to the logo image. This will be shown in another article of this tutorial so we will describe this point later.
Now if we are in our administration panel of our newly installed wordpress website, we have in front of our eyes a lot of menu things which we have to describe. in this part of this how to tutorial we will be talking about few of them and first of them is menu piece called settings. The best thing is show it on the picture so picture please:

As you can see on the picture we have here a lot of settings peaces which we can describe. This now can’t be only about website name and permalinks settings. I will describe it piece by piece ane in every section will be the picture.
That isn’t hard to understand this administration panel because everything is greatly described but this tutorial will give you more description to every point of this and why you might want to do that like me. Everything can be important for search engine optimalisation which is the main part of success on the internet.
OK now take a look at the section called General. There you will find some global settings for your website and for you administration. So lets watch the picture:

As you can see there is a lot of options here what you can change. That first option is your website title. As you can see that is the same title as you write there during installation. You can chynge it anytime you want.
Second section is your website description. By default it calls Just another wordpress site. This you have to change to be more optimized for search engines. In a few words you have to describe what will be on your website. This description can obtain one or more of your secondary keywords if you want to.
In next sections are URL’s of your website. I don’t recommend to change them but if you want to have your website administration on another domain or somewhere elese so you can read the tutorial which is under the second link and it will helps you how to do that. This you may want for security reasons.
Next part of this section is administration e-mail. This is that e-mail which you writed in in the installation menu. If you want to change it to new one so you can do that here. On this e-mail will be send every notification from wordpress website in future so if you want to stay updated and see every news what is happening on your website when you are not in your administration pane so don’t forget your primary e-mail password. If you forget password from your main admin account, on this e-mail will be sent another one.
Next section contain the user registration on your wordpress website. This section contains two options. There is user role and check box where you have to confirm that you allow the user registration on your website. This can be modified by using some great plugins which you will have in other article of this tutorial. You can by using the change the user roles and creating new ones. By using some more plugins you can make registration form money as well to access directly to some hidden content of your wordpress website.
In next section you can change your website language. This doesn’t translate your articles but the titles of widgets and other things will be translated as well if you didn’t write your own. The best language for your website is that language in which is your website written. You cant have your website in for example czech language and write in english. It will makes you more work only.
Next part is timezone, date and time settings. This is only on your preferences. If you want to use your server time settings or if you want to use your own timezone so you can easily change it. WordPress will automatically set up timezone setting to the location where are the web hosting server which you will use. If it isn’t corresponds to your timezone so you can easily change it and give your wordpress website right timezone and date and time format.
Last thing is changing the day for the week start and the save button. This option is here because a lot of calendar plug in will use this option. So if you want to show the event calendar on your website and in your timezone will start the week by the sunday so you have to change this option. I am from europe so my settings is good for my reasons. (it is only testing wordpress website for tutorial purposes so I don’t want to change it much).
2. Accessing the writing settings menu

This menu has only a few sections to change. The first is category of posts where will be by default values stored every post automatically if you will not change it manually in writing the post. The second section is setting to your post format. This can have a lot of states which can by modified by plugins and you can have all of your posts in another format. normal format is regular article. You can write letters or products with descriptions and other things. Everything depends only on the plugins which you will install in future.
Next section is mail server. I recommend to not change it but you can easily contact your web hosting provider to get this values and your website will run as the mail server itself. You can use this option to sending news directly from your website to your customers or to allow them to create mail address here on your wordpress website and using it like an e-mail server.
Last section is for update section. You can have a lot of services which will tells your customer that you created new post on your websites and you can easily cooperate with them and send your visitors to them. It works like the bell button on youtube. If you will publish a new post, your customers will know it and they will go to your website to read more. It is really simple. You need to use for it some external service so you have to find some aroun the internet.
3. Accessing to wordpress website reading menu

As you can see the wordpress website reading section is really small. There you will find only settings of your homepage. In wordpress administration panel you can find two features. There are pages and posts. Pages you can use for main menu things where you will write something like about us section or privacy policies or anything else and posts can be short and long articles, e-shop products and every content of your website.
As you can see that you can use for home page setting the static page or you can use latest post like is here on working online is easy website. This option can be very important if you are making the company presentation website where you have some articles but you have to have static homepage. there you have to choose static homepage which you will create and as a posts page you have to create another one where it will be. You can easily forget on the categories and everything you will need you can write to the secondary posts page where will be your post too.
I want you to see the latest post so my website will fully corresponds to the latest posts on the homepage. In the next section you can change how many posts will be shown on the posts page and in the RSS feed. If you choose too big number that you can have problems with loading of web. Especially if you have the pictures in every post like me. But I think that future pictures on every post looks really great on the homepage and can be comfortable for the users eye.
Next section is some kind of useless. You can choose here that you will have on the post section full text of your articles or only summary view. But this otion is primarily controlled by the theme of the website which you will choose so you can’t modify it from here.
And last thing is that checkbox which we saw on the installation section. This field will allow you to decline the search engine robots to crawl your website. If you will check this box, you will not be visible in search engines. This can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’ve done and still searching why you don’t have any visitors and you have a ton of backlinks and great SEO but still nothing. You can have but the robots from search engines can’t show your website in search engine so you have to uncheck this button and everything will be fine in next few days.
4. Setting up the discussion menu.

As you can see there are a lot of checkboxes which are modify the websites communication protocol. In the first section called default post setting you will see the three checkboxes which will change communication with another connected blogs to your website. This is good for everyone who want to have more than one website and wants every website to be connected to each other.
You can modify here how it will be linked to your website and how will be the links on another websites work. If you want to have on your website only no follow links taht you can unchek that link notification check box
To understand how the links works that the follow links are valuable to the website rankings. If you start to work on some backlinking strategy so this is the main part for you because you need to have a lot of follow links to your website and don’t have a lot of follow links from your website to others. this can be easily changed in this section of discussion.
The next section will allow your users to comment if you want to have some comments on your website. Here you can check what you need from your user to fill before he can post the comment under your article. You can set up if you want to have comments on your website closed after some amount of passed days or anything else. i think that the checkboxes here are fully and greatly described so you can easily understand what are you doing.
Next section only setts up what comments will be send to your admin e-mail address. If you don’t want to obtain any e-mail from your website which includes a comments that you can easily uncheck that boxes and you will not be disturbed
Next section is settings before comment appear on your website. You can set up that comment must be manually approved. i fully recommend that setting because you will have a lot of comments from robots (if you don’t using some captcha plugins but this can be break thru by some decaptcher service) and it can’t be good to see a lot of comments with links under your posts.
Comment moderation and disallowed comment keys are great to modify the comment words if you want to disallow some words or comments with links and ather ones. You can strictly decline everything in this section. So this will filter organic users from robots too.
Last section calls avatars. There you can set up an default avatar for every user you have. This section is great for users which have to have registration to comment. They can have they own avatar for comments or you can set up for them the default one. This can be raised by plugins.
5. Something about media and media library

This section is really small. That is fully understandable so I will write only few words about it. Here you can change only the sizes of pictures in 3 main states. the Thumbnail picture will shown on some website themes where you will have only a thumbnail future image on the left side of posts. Second section is medium size which you will see in post and last is size after you click on the picture.
This 3 main sizes of pictures are mainly controlled by the chosen theme so it will not have the effect if you change them here. The larg size is only one which will have effect on the real website. But I think if you will not change the values here that will be good and you can easily set up another things on your wordpress website.
6. Setting up permalinks

This is one of the most important settings for SEO. As you can see the link of your website in every post which you will made that the permalinks will modify the link which you will see. The target of the link is to be the user and search engine friendly. As you can see that the permalink is defaultly setted up to day and name.
This is too large http address to your posts and you have to have shorten it. You can do that in every post manually or you can set up your custom permalinks by using the special words. All words you will see if you click on the link called number of tags available. For reasons of SEO is the best to use only website name and post name or you can use only postname.
There are some plugins which will force the permalink settings and there can be more settings. For example you can use the Seopressor which I fully recommend you to download because we will work with it later and there will be some changes which it will do. That will affects the permalink too and the website title and description as well. So there will be the another settings which will go over this.
Next section is Optional and this changes permalinks of categories or tags. I think that is not to important to change this because category page isn’t too much intsresting thing for the search engines.
7. Some privacy settings

In this section of wordpress website you can only change the page where will be shown your privacy policy texts. This is important because a lot of websites and especially e-shops has to have one. So here you only choose the website with them and you can write them to the page which is chosen. It is quietly simple so that’s it.
